Padova urbs picta - Padua’s 14th-century fresco cycles have been awarded World Heritage Status by UNESCO.
The frescoes are an extraordinary example of creative genius, expressed through the works of Giotto and the artists who followed his teachings.
Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta - Baroque Venetian villa
Located about twenty kilometres from Padua, it is one of the largest Venetian villas. It stands on the remains of an ancient castle built by the Dente family in around the year 1000. Acquired by the Carraresi, the family that ruled over Padua, it was inherited by a member of the Contarini family, who then transformed it into an extraordinary “place of theatre”.
Treviso-Ostiglia bike route
The former Ostiglia-Treviso military railway has been made into a bike route, with the section running between Treviso and Padua provinces now completed, and work underway in Vicenza province. Currently around 70 km of the 118 km route is accessible.
The Veneto region is renowned for its agriculture, providing produce all year round and great cuisine!
It’s a tough choice to decide the best place to eat among the many ancient taverns, restaurants and modern trattorias that offer great value for money. We will be happy to recommend the best restaurants to try traditional local cuisine.
